Cottage. Probably C18, extended in late C19. The original part is plastered cob on
stone rubble footings, extension is brick; stone rubble or brick stacks topped with
late C19 brick, one shaft with Rolle Estate chimney pots; thatch roof to main
house, corrugated asbestos to the extensions.
2-room plan cottage facing north-west with central stairs and each room heated by
end stacks, the right one projecting slightly. On the right end is a single storey
store and on the left end a 2-storey extension with front corner stack serving the
first floor room.
The main house has a symmetrical 2-window front of C20 casements. Only the ground
floor windows have glazing bars. Central front door is C20, a plank door with a
window. The roof is gable-ended, so too are the store and extension. Both have
front plank doors.
Interior. No carpentry detail is exposed and the fireplaces are blocked. C19
joinery detail. Roof inaccessible although the feet of the principals show
indicating A-frame trusses.
Formerly known as Copplestone Cottage.
