Maltings. c1860. Red brick, with Welsh slate roofs, with 6 chimney pots equally spaced
along the northern ridge of these 2 ranges. 2 storey. North-west front has 4 shuttered
openings on the ground floor, and 5 cross casement windows above, with to the right a
single loading door reached up an external fight of steps and beyond a further blocked
opening. To the left a boarded opening, and beyond a blocked window. The north-east
front has 2 gables and 2 openings in each on the upper floor. The South-west front has
a projecting square barley sweating kiln to the left, with a pyramidal nipped roof and
ventilator cap. A single window to each exposed front, and deeply dentilated eaves. To
the right 3 shuttered openings and above 3 cross casements. Above a slate hung dormer
and a similar vent over the malt dressing area. Beyond to the right a lean-to later engine
shed.
Interior. This malting contains all its original features, including its germinating floors,
steeping tanks, storage bins, malt dressing areas and 2 square kilns with their original
hearths and perforated drying floors. The added kiln also retains its original features.
