World War I memorial gatehouse. 1922. By Charles Holden.
Limestone ashlar with squared Brandon Hill Grit rubble.
Single-depth plan. 2 storeys; 2-window range. Symmetrical
gatehouse has an open 2-centre archway with rubble spandrels
to the parapet, small pedestrian arches either side, with
2-light windows above. Octagonal stair turret extends up to
the rear right. The archway has a quadripartite vault, and
2-leaf gates swept down to the centre. INTERIOR not inspected.
