House, later public house and shop, now offices. Dated 1300
but early C17 with C18 extension, restored 1979-81.
Timber-framed on brick base with brick underbuilding to front
and brick extension; tile roof. 2 storeys with attic; gable
facing, 3-storey extension to left. 1st floor has close
studding and is jettied over later underbuilding, post to left
with enriched cap. Extension has roof hipped to right;
segmental-headed ground and 1st floor windows. Windows have
C20 casements, leaded glazing to 1st floor and attic. Recessed
entrance under jetty. Right return to St John's Street of 7
bays of square framing; 2 windows to ground floor, 1st floor
has 4 windows, one of 4 lights with diagonal timber mullions,
3 gabled roof dormers; entrance with paired doors.
INTERIOR has timber-framed cross walls and stop-chamfered
beams; 1st floor not inspected, but noted as having exposed
roof trusses.
