Entrance gateway and roadside wall
to NE of Beckminster House

GV II

Entrance gateway and attached walling. Mid C19. Ashlar
sandstone and coursed dressed sandstone. Main entrance to
Beckminster House (q.v.) is flanked by pairs of
square-sectioned gatepiers linked by quadrant walls which are
pierced by Gothic Revival arcading. The arcaded wall has
chamfered plinth and roll moulded copings whilst the piers
have pyramidal and octagonal tops of differing design. A
matching section of arcaded wall continues to left and
terminates at ashlar end pier. To right of gateway the
roadside wall is of coursed sandstone and continues in 4 steps
for approx. 45 metres before terminating at an end pier.
