Pair of houses. Early C19. Coursed squared sandstone with
herringbone tooling, with ashlar plinth, quoins and dressings;
rubble left and rendered right returns. Roof not visible;
stone gable copings and chimneys. 3 storeys; 4-window range. 3
steps up to paired central doors, 6-panel to No.22 and 4-panel
to No.24, in plain stone surrounds with corner patera
supporting hood to No.22 and pedimented lintel to No.24.
Raised stone surrounds to sashes with glazing bars, smaller on
top floor. Deep eaves gutter cornice. Low-pitched roof has
stone gable copings and banded end chimneys. Right return has
2 first-floor sashes.
INTERIOR: No.22 has fluted door architraves with patera;
entrance hall with reeded arch. Panels below windows which
have panelled shutters. Dogleg stair with stick balusters and
wreathed mahogony handrail. No.24 has steps in entrance hall,
late C19 hall door and arch, and is reported to have reeded
architraves with patera to doors of upper rooms.
