Detached villa. Dated 1834. Smooth rendered, slate roof. A
compact symmetrical central hall plan, with raised central
gable pediment.
2 storeys, attic and basement; 3-window range. 6/6-pane sashes
to stone cills and with plain reveals. The central 6-panel
door with radial fanlight, on 3 slate steps with nosings, is
set in a deep arched recess with a plastered groined vault
carried on turned corbels in the corners. There are plain end
pilasters, and the central gable has a scalloped barge-board,
and inset date-stone. Each of the wide plain end gables has a
deep brick stack.
The rear has 3 small 2-light casement gabled dormers above
modified 12-pane sashes and an 18-pane stair light; the lower
ground floor has a central door, and a large inserted C20
panel to the right. To the left is a wide 16-pane sash with
peaked head.
INTERIOR: part of ground floor only inspected. The long narrow
hall leads to a fine geometrical staircase in a tight
semicircular well, with stick balusters, and swept handrail
rising through the full height of the building; a basement
stair descends to the right. Doors are generally original
panelled with fine linear mould panel surrounds, in moulded
architraves.
