House, now sub-divided. Late C18. Red brick front in Flemish
bond; window-arches painted. Slate roof. Old red brick chimney
on left gable-end; another chimney on rear wall.
2 storeys, with semi-basement under No 3, where the ground
drops away; 3-window range. Original entrance (at No 3) in
centre of ground storey with inserted entrance to No 4
adjoining it on right. No 3 has round-arched doorway
approached by 3 old stone steps; flanked by fluted Doric
pilasters supporting an entablature with oval metal panels on
frieze and bracketed cornice. 6-panelled door, the 2 bottom
panels flush; matching reveals, large lion-head knocker; No 4
has plain doorway with late C20 wood door; C19 two-paned
fanlight. Windows have slightly curved brick arches and barred
sashes almost flush with the brickwork; 6 over 6 panes in
middle second-storey window and centre lights of triple-sashed
outer windows, 2 over 2 panes in sidelights. Plank door to
semi-basement. Boxed eaves cornice.
INTERIOR not inspected, except that No 3 has stair compartment
opening immediately off front door, with open-well wood stair
having thin square balusters, column-newels and shaped
step-ends.
