The Old Rectory
G.V. II
Former Rectory, now Old People's Home. Rebuilt 1820 but incorporates
traces of a C17 building. The rear part appears to be later C19.
Ashlar facade, and hammer dressed stone. Some quoins. Hipped slate
roof with ashlar stacks. Dentil brackets to gutter. Two storeys,
with 1st floor sill band to front. 3-bay centre part with later
conservatory added between 2-bay projecting hipped block to left, and
single bay projecting gabled block to right. Both these have ground
floor bow with 3 single lights. Sash windows. The right gable has
a projecting stack with quoins, probably C17, but no trace of fireplace
internally.
Interior: Mainly altered. Panelled shutters to windows. The day room
has 2 large 6-panel curved corner doors (one is a dummy). Staircase
with turned wooden balusters. Parts of a double chamfered window can
be seen from the cellar, on the right gable end.
