House, mid C17, extended early C19 and c1920, rubble stone with
stone slate roofs. Ridge and east end stack. 2 storeys and attic.
North front has 4-window range, flush quoins and C17 ovolo-moulded
recessed stone mullion windows to two right bays. Three-light to
each floor to right, lower window with hoodmould. To left, an
attic gable with similar 3-light and hoodmould, leaded lights.
Below, a 2-storey early C19 large canted bay with 12-pane sashes,
paired to front and continuous hoodmoulds. To left, early C19
Greek Doric enclosed porch with 4-panel door and overlight.
Pilaster responds indicate that it was originally open. Above, a
C20 2-light mullion window. End bay to left has ground floor
canted bay matching that to right of door and early C19 triple
casement above with hoodmould and relieving arch. West end wall
has C17 mullion windows and hoodmoulds, 3-light to attic, 4-light
with king-mullion to ground and first floors. A south-west rear
wing appears mostly early C19 extended to south c1920. Parallel
range to east, early C19 partly red brick with large 12-16-12 pane
timber oriel. Extended to south c1920. Main range has original
rear gable with blocked attic 3-light. South-east rear wing c1920
with hipped-roof roughcast section in angle.
Interior: 6-panel compartmental ceiling with deep chamfered beams
in one ground floor room. House is dated on ridge stack ?1663. It
belonged to the Gaby family from the C18 to the early C20.
