12/287 The Bell House Hotel

GV II


House now hotel, C16 altered in early C19, painted rubble stone
with stone slate roofs and brick stacks. Two storeys, L-plan with
early C19 flush mullion windows, hoodmoulds and Gothic cast-iron
small-paned glazing. Four 2-light windows above, two 3-lights,
half-glazed door in depressed-arched surround with hoodmould and 3-
light below. The second bay has gable over and fourth bay is
gabled end of cross wing with large brick stack to left. Cross
wing roof is swept low on west side. East end wall has similar 2-
light and 3-light. South west rear wing is in two sections with
stack between, the roof hipped at south end over window in C18
stone architrave. C20 additions in rear angle and behind.
Interior: ground floor wholly altered apart from large timber-
lintel fireplace in west end room. Some windbracing in roof.
