1822. Over River Wylye. Architect Sir Richard Westmacott, builder named
Fisher. Stone faced, ashlar below and vermiculated parapet and side piers.
Chiefly notable for 2 large marble statues - probably by Sir Richard which
stand on ledge backed by the parapet which is lower in comparison to the
statues. Originally intended that the parapet should form a screen behind.
Statues probably represent Ceres (to left) and Bacchus (to right). The bridge
is of 3 segmental arches - the centre one taller and wider - pointed breakwater
and side piers with slits having rustic voussoirs. Projecting band below
parapet. Flanking the central arch are pedestals for the statues. East
side plain ashlar.
