Former house and service wing, now 2 houses, with gatepier attached to
south-east corner. Altered C17 rear wings with mid C18 front wing, late C18
extension to left, and early C19 service wing. Coursed rubble limestone with
stone slate roofs; ashlar chimneys with moulded cornices. Front wing has 2
storeys and attic, and 3 bays. Formerly rendered, with ashlar quoins, chamfered
plinth and flat gable copings, the left gable with small ball finial. First
floor has 3-pane boxed sashes in late C18-early C19 moulded stone architrave
surrounds, the 2 left sashes renewed C20. 2-pane sash to ground floor left, and
C20 French doors to right have similar surrounds with relieving arches. 3 gabled
roof dormers with C20 paired barred wooden casements. Centre of ground floor has
been altered and now has early-mid C20 flat-roofed porch projection with wooden
cornice and leaded glazing. Set back to right are 2 late C18 bays with 3-pane
sashes and gabled roof dormers. To right of this is a lower early C19 wing of 2
storeys and 2 and a half bays, with wooden casements and C20 door. Rear wing has
some chamfered stone mullion windows and other C20 windows in matching style.
South side of this wing has colonnade of re-used C18-C19 stone Doric columns.
Interior is much altered but retains C17-C18 fireplace in rear room, with
dressed stone jambs and heavy wooden lintel, and C18 staircase to centre of
front wing with heavy turned balusters and moulded handrail. Gatepier is
early-mid C18 of ashlar, with moulded panels, base and capital, and large ball
finial. One of a pair with gatepier c.5 metres to south-east of Kencot Manor
(q.v.).
