Chandler's Arms Public House and attached mounting block

Public house. Late C17 with later alterations and additions. Coursed ironstone
rubble. Steeply pitched asbestos tile roof. Brick ridge stack on stone base.
2-unit plan plus C19 extension to rear. 2 storeys. 2-window range. Entrance
off-centre to left has a panelled/glazed door with a stone flat arch. Entrance
is flanked by 3-light stone mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops.
First floor has two 2-light similar windows. Interior has stop-chamfered beams,
joists, inglenook fireplace with chamfered bressumer and a small wood cupboard
to right of fireplace with a carved door. Mounting block. Inset datestone MTD
1694. Limestone. Approximately 1 metre high. Datestone was found in the cellar
of the inn.
