Pair of cottages, now cottage and post office. Probably late C17 with later
additions and alterations. Uncoursed limestone rubble; stone slate roofs. 2
storeys and gable-lit attic. Three C19 casements directly below eaves with
infilled opening to right of left window. Four C19 casements and fixed-light
windows with wood lintels to ground floor; infilled doorway to right of right
window. Integral end stacks with dripstones, left with top rebuilt in C19 yellow
brick. Red brick ridge stack at junction between 2 parts (see straight joint).
Lower C20 addition to right has two 3-light mullion windows with dripstones
directly below eaves. Interior. Post Office only inspected. Chamfered spine
beams with chamfered spine beams to first floor. Several panelled and plank
doors and a C19 door with blind Gothic tracery patterns to ground floor. Oak
winder staircase from first floor to attic, which has collar truss roof with
principal rafters rising from wall tops. Single-storey C20 flat-roofed addition
to left (housing shop) and 2-storey gabled range at right-angles to rear on left
are not of special architectural interest.
