12/138 Lower Manor Farmhouse

GV II
House, at one time used as cottages. Cross wing to left is probably C17,
remainder early C18. Refurbished early C20. Coursed rubble limestone, C18 part
with dressed stone quoins and window jambs; stone slate roof; C20 white brick
chimney shafts, C18 block with flanking paired shafts set diagonally. Irregular
U-plan. 2 storeys and attic. C18 part has 3-bay fenestration with C20 3-light
barred wooden casements, all with wooden lintels. Ground floor left window is
irregular, with only 2 lights, and may be set in blocked doorway. 2 gabled roof
dormers with 2-light similar casements. Between right bays is a C20 barred and
glazed door with large C20 gabled wooden hood on brackets. To left is gable end
of C17 wing with small attic light, external chimney, and single-storey
projecting extension. Interior has stop-chamfered ceiling beam across centre
bay, winder stair in C18 rear wing, and altered fireplaces.
