GV II
House, now inn. Late C16, originally timber-framed and jettied to centre,
extended 3 bays to left, 2 bays to right, and refaced c.1890. Ground floor of
late C19 English bond brick; club and plain tile hung jettied first floor; old
tile roof; brick stacks. Original plan form unclear. 2 storeys, extra attic
storey to left; 7-window range. Flat arch and segmental arch over late C19
cellar doors. Late C19 casements. Gabled dormer with stepped 3-light casement to
left; gablets over each of 4 first-floor windows to right. Gabled roof also
hipped adjoining rear left gable; ridge stacks. Similar left gable wall has late
C19 panelled door with overlight. Interior: To centre is 3-bay collar-truss roof
with clasped purlins; timber framing and large jowled posts exposed on first
floor. Part of chamfered beam on ground floor.
