Hotel. 1867. Sandstone ashlar facing to brick carcase,
steeply-pitched slate roof. Parallelogram plan. Eclectic
Jacobean style. Three storeys with cellars and attics, a 5+3
window north facade, with continuous string course over the
ground floor, an arcaded frieze over the left portion, gables
over the 2nd and 5th windows of this and a larger gable over
the 2nd and 3rd windows of the right-hand portion; a canted
corner entrance at the left (east) corner with shafted jambs
and moulded corbelled corner above; doorways in 3rd and 7th
bays, with hoodmoulds; square-headed windows on all floors,
all with hoodmoulds, those of the left portion mostly
containing coupled sashes and those of the right-hand portion
4-pane sashes. East return side in similar style.
