House. C16 or earlier, altered in C18 and C20, extended in
Clg. Timber-framed and plastered with facade of red and blue
brick in Flemish bond, roofed with handmade red clay tiles.
Double range plan facing SSE, of which the front range
probably incorporates the timber structure of a C16 or earlier
house, the rear range being an C18 addition. Internal stack to
rear of front range, to right of centre. Late Clg double range extension to right. Late C19 single-range extension to left
rear. 2 storeys. C18 brick facade with blue headers forming a
regular pattern, with on the ground floor 4 sashes of 6+6
lights irregularly arranged, and on the first floor 6 C18
sashes of 4+4 lights, regularly spaced. All windows have flat
arches of gauged brick and plain reveals. C20 half-glazed door
to right of middle, with moulded flat canopy on carved
scrolled brackets. Raised band of one course at first-floor
level. Plain parapet with stone coping. Hipped roofs.
INTERIOR: has been comprehensively re-styled in the C18 and
C20, and no timber structure is exposed, but the proportions
with door and chimney near the left end, 2 windows to the
right, and a 2-storey gabled cross-wing at the left end, both
with tiled roofs - apparently the reverse of the present plan.
