Shops and dwellings, now shops. Early C18.
Painted brick; Welsh slate roof with 3 hipped gables to front,
turnerized to right; diagonal brick ridge stack to centre.
4 storeys; 4-window range: to left, 2 late C19 plain sashes
with cambered heads; 9/9 and 6/6 sashes over; to right, C20,
6/9 horizontal casements; segmental arches; storeybands;
restored leaded parapet. C20 shop fronts. Rear: 2 earlier C17
gables with some brick-on-edge infill; various lights and
casements; sliding sash in moulded case; C18, 8/8 sash to
ground floor. Further gables over, with C18 and C19 framing
with brick infill, and render; buttress stack. Timber-framed
wing.
INTERIOR: No.14: mid C18 dogleg staircase with turned
balusters, and moulded string and rail; C19 staircase to 3rd
floor. 3rd floor: cast-iron corner fireplace; plank doors with
wrought-iron hinges. 2nd floor: C17 panelling and door, with
carved frieze; mid C19 corner fireplace (cast-iron with marble
surround) to front; corner fireplace; moulded plank door. 1st
floor: massive corner stack. Cellar: some stone lining. Wing
to rear: interior: C19 stair to 1st floor level; exposed
frame; late C19 plank door; 1st floor has chamfered ceiling
frame, and panelling; plank door to vaulted passage with
exposed timber-framing; exposed ceiling beams to front;
corbelled stack.
No.15: C19 dogleg staircase with stick balusters. Attic:
blocked corner fireplace; C18 moulded plank door. 3rd floor:
blocked corner fireplace. 2nd floor: C19 fire surround, to
front; C18 cupboard; ceiling beams with stop moulded plates.
Wing to rear: early C17 timber-framing; late C19 stick
baluster stairs from 1st to 2nd floors; panelling to 1st
floor. Cellar: stone-lined; blocked doorway with oak frame.
Timber-framing visible above 1st floor level.
