House, now flats, and adjoining outbuildings wall and railing.
Late C18, with early and mid C19 and C20 additions and
alterations. Brick, roughcast and colourwashed, with slate
roofs with 5 gable and 3 ridge stacks. 2 storeys. 2 main
blocks each with 2 windows, the south west one a triple range.
L-plan. Garden front has first floor band. Right block has
wooden eaves cornice. To left, 2 Doric columns carrying a bow
window with 3 plain sashes. The ground floor has been filled
in and 3 plain sashes inserted. To right, a single plain sash
on each floor. Projecting left block has 2 plain sashes and
below, a cast iron French window with fanlight and to right an
altered window with 3 glazing bar lights and a reset fanlight
above it. Right return has a double coped gable to left with a
central canted 2 storey bay window with 3 plain sashes on each
floor. To its right, a margin light stair window with a C20
casement below. Projecting right gable has a plain sash and
below, a cross casement. To the right, a single storey lean-to
addition with ramped coped ends and a canted blind bay window
with a small casement. Left return has an attached single
storey hipped outbuilding with 2 pairs of garage doors.
Millgate front has to left a block with a 2 storey canted bay
window with plain sashes above and leaded casements below. To
its right, 2 plain sashes on each floor. To right again, a
block with a plain sash and a cross casement and below, a
plain sash and a close boarded doorway. Beyond, a hipped
single storey outbuilding with no openings. Interior has a
ground floor room with Ionic pilasters and moulded wall
panels, Ionic columns to the bow window, modillioned cross
beam ceiling and enriched fireplace and doorcases. Room above
has modillioned cornice. Panelled hallway has C19 open well
stair in early C17 style. Panelled room on Millgate side has
C19 stone fireplace with iron lintel and stone overmantel on
curved brackets. Outside, to Millgate, a spearhead railing
with rendered plinth and square piers with pyramidal caps.
Approx.20M long. On the south west side, a C19 brick boundary
wall with gable brick and stone coping. Approx. 80M long.
