2 town houses with later shops. Early/late C19. Stucco on
studwork front with quoin strip on left, sill brackets and
moulded architraves to original windows; brackets to fascia
board; grouted scantle slate roofs; brick stack on left.
U-shaped plan including narrow wings at rear. 3 storeys;
4-window range. Original 4-pane hornless sashes except for 2
late C19 1st-floor oriels to No.20 (right) with pilasters,
moulded entablature and horned sashes. Ground floor has
carriage entrance on left, otherwise late C19 full-width
moulded entablature with end consoles over fluted pilasters
framing 2 late C20 altered shop fronts: double shop front on
right; smaller shop front on left with doorway on its left.
Rear wing of No.18 is slate-hung to part of upper storeys and
has 2 original 12-pane hornless sashes and 2x20-pane fixed
lights. Carriage house left of this has weather-boarded upper
floors with 2 original 10-pane horizontal-sliding sashes to
each floor and former loading doorway to 1st-floor left with
15-pane hornless sash. Ground floor has 2 wide doorways: mid
C20 sliding doorway on left and 3 late C19 boarded doors on
the right. INTERIOR not inspected. The rear wings and carriage
house are well-preserved and form a significant element of
this property.
