Almshouse, now private house. c1880. Red brick, plain tile
roof with cresting, upper part of front rendered and pargetted
with applied timber framing. Red brick stack to centre of
right side wall. 2 bays, 2 storeys, gable end to street.
Front: jettied on brackets. Ground floor has boarded door,
3-light casement window with canted brick sill, both under
segmental brick arches. First floor has pair of 2-light small
paned casement windows. Gable has barge-boards and louvred
opening of 2 lights with trefoiled heads at apex. Built by the
Saffron Walden Almshouse Trustees who acquired the property in
1879.
