Tithe barn associated with the grange of the Abbot of St.
Osyth, now part of Museum of East Anglian Life. C15, re-using
some timbers. Timber-framed with C19 weatherboard cladding and
pantiled roof. Restored 1970s. Aisled plan. Plain north side
except for a single plank door. South side with double timber
doors right of centre rising into sloping roof. Double timber
doors at west end rising only to eaves. INTERIOR. 6 bays of
arcade posts with a narrow extra bay. Posts carried on brick
spurs. Tie beams on straight braces to arcade posts and arcade
plate. Struts from wall plate to arcade posts. Queen struts
rise from ties to join C20 purlins and collars. Most of
rafters C20.
