Terraced houses. Nos 517-521 mid-to-late-C18, no 523 early
C19. Brown and yellow brick, roofs obscured by parapet. Three
storeys over basement; nos 517-519 and 523 of two-window
range, no 521 three-window range. Nos 517 and 519 have
entrances from a raised walk and a stuccoed ground floor,
decorated on no 519 with chamfered rustication: flat-arched
entrances with pilasters supporting enriched frieze and
pediment; no 521 has steps up to round-arched entrance with
very complete wooden doorcase of Roman Doric engaged columns
supporting entablature and open pediment with scrolled
decoration to spandrels, and keystone; fanlight and panelled
door of original design; no 523 has steps up to flat-arched
entrance with plain stucco pilasters and cornice on consoles,
overlight and panelled door of original design. Ground-floor
windows flat-arched to nos 517-21, cambered to no 523;
first-floor windows flat-arched, with heads of gauged red
brick to nos 517-521; second-floor windows segmental-arched to
no 517 and flat-arched to nos 519-523, rebuilt to nos 519 and
523; parapet; stacks to party walls. Nos 517 and 521 were
listed on 18/2/70.
