Offices. c1913 for Staffordshire County Council. Ashlar and
brick with stone dressings and plain tile hipped roof with
brick and stone ridge stacks. Wrenaissance style with stone
ground floor, brick upper floor and stone modillion cornice. 2
storeys, basement and attic; 7-window range of stone mullion
cross windows with leaded lights. Moulded hoods to 1st floor,
aprons to ground floor. Centre projects forward as a
frontespiece, with channelled rustication supports, pilaster
strips and a large curved broken and open pediment. Central
doorway with curved stone hood carried on carved consoles.
Window above has pediment and apron. Oeil-de-boeuf window and
carved swags in pediment. Two 3-light dormers. Similar simpler
front to St Chad's Place to right. Forms a group with No.16
(qv) to right, (in similar style), and County Buildings
opposite.
