GV II

Two houses. Early C19. Stucco with painted moulded stone
architraves to doors and windows; hipped slate roof, brick
stacks to ends and party wall to left of centre. Double-depth
plan.
2 storeys with attic; 3-window range, framed by plain
pilasters and platband between floors. No.32 to the right
(west) has 2 windows flanking left-of-centre door; No.34 to
left has door to right below inserted C20 window, and one
window to each floor to left. All windows are 8/8-pane sashes
with horns, both doors are 6-panel with shallow overlight of 2
panes: all set in moulded frames. The rear has 4 casement
windows under segmental brick arches to first floor and a
rubblestone and pantile lean-to. A set-back, single-storey
rubblestone wall with a cambered-headed doorway connects No.34
to No.36 (qv), to the left.
INTERIOR of No.32: The largest room is to the front right,
which has a 6-panel door, a white marble Regency-style
fireplace with corner roundels and c1890 grate; panelled
shutters to front and side windows. Cupboard stairs to the
right with swept handrail, turned newels and stick balusters,
continue to the attic, which has wide oak floorboards.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: A limestone rubble retaining wall with
Ham Hill stone coping and gates to right and left, supports
spearhead railings with urn finials.
