Forester's Cottage
II
Estate cottage, now a house. Early C19, with late C20
additions and alterations. Coursed squared stone and brick,
with ashlar dressings and gabled and hipped slate roofs.
Plinth and first floor band. 2 storeys; 2 window range.
Windows have segmental heads and splayed lintels. Single bay
front has an unglazed window and below, a moulded ashlar
doorcase with cornice and fielded 6-panel door. Right return
has two 6-pane sashes and below, two larger 12-pane sashes,
now boarded. C20 brick rear addition, single strorey plus
attics, with catslide roof. Modified C19 single storey rear
outbuilding.
An estate cottage provided for workers on the Belton estate by
the Brownlow family of Belton House.
