GV II


Row of four houses. Early C19. Limestone ashlar, Welsh slate
roofs with coped verges and stone stacks. Three-storey, 2-window
central block containing Nos 18 and 19, two-storey side bays to Nos
17 and 20. No 17 has 4-panelled door and plate glass sash to
ground and first floor, sill band, eaves band and moulded cornice
to plain parapet. Nos 18 and 19 have stone porches with shallow
pediments, C20 door to No 18 and 4-panelled door to No 19, No 18
has steel casement, No 19 has 16-pane sash, sill band and lintel
band to two first floor 16-pane sashes, second floor has sill band
to two sashes, eaves band and moulded cornice to plain parapet. No
20 has 4-panelled door and 16-pane sash to ground and first floor,
same detail as No 17. Rear has 12-pane and 20-pane sashes, three
floors over basement to two centre bays, side bays have two floors
over basement, lean-to extensions. Attached to front are plain
cast-iron spearhead railings, single gate retained to No 18.
Designed as a symmetrical group, prominence being given to the two
centre bays by stone porches and an additional storey.
