Coaching inn, now shop and dwellings. Probably early C18 with C20 alterations.
Grey brick with red brick dressings; roof and chimney stacks not visible.
3-storey, 5-window range. C20 plate-glass shop front to ground floor with
plate-glass doors to left of centre. Carriageway to right. C20 fascia board
between ground and first floors. Early C20 angled bay window to first floor
centre with wood mullion and transom windows. Unhorned Venetian sash windows
with glazing bars to first floor left and right with rubbed brick heads. Flat
brick band between first and second floors. 12-pane sash with brick flat head to
second floor centre. Tripartite horned sashes with glazing bars to second floor
left and right with brick flat heads. Flat brick band to base of plain parapet.
Interior: C20 shop to ground floor. History: John Hampden died at Greyhound Inn
on site. Included for group value.
