Detached house. Early C18, extended C19. Limestone ashlar front
with chamfered quoins, rubble stone returns, hipped stone slate
roof with stone stacks with moulded cappings. Two-storey and
attic, 5-window classical front. Central C19 half-glazed door in
bolection-moulded architrave with broken segmental pediment on
consoles and heraldic -shield in pediment, cellar has two 2-light
mullioned casements to left of door, ground floor has two 12-pane
sashes in bolection-moulded architraves either side of door.
Moulded lintel string course. First floor has five sashes in
bolection-moulded architraves, the centre with keystone. Moulded
cornice to parapet swept up to centre with ball finial, three attic
dormers to roof, the centre with gable, flanking ones with
pediments; all with C20 casements. Left return has 12-pane sash
within C19 conservatory with arched lights, 12-pane sash to first
floor with bolection-moulded architrave, hipped attic dormer behind
parapet. Right return has C19 stone canted bay, three first floor
sashes in bolection-moulded architraves, hipped attic dormer, 2-
storey C19 wing attached to right has 4-pane and 12-pane sashes in
plain architraves, two half-dormers with 9-pane sashes. Rear has
C19 kitchen wing to right and courtyard filled-in by flat-roofed
extension, C19 wing to left has pointed casements on east side.
Interior: C18 fittings in main range include good open stairs
rising up to attic with 2 turned balusters per tread, wide moulded
and ramped handrail, dado with fielded panelling, doors with 6
fielded panels in bolection-moulded architraves. Bolection-
moulded stone fireplace surround and good raised moulded panelling
in room to left of entrance. Room to right has full raised and
fielded panelling with moulded cornice, wooden Adam-style
fireplace.
