School

Cottage and barn, now house and school. Late C17/early C18, barn re-modelled C19
and converted late C20. Limestone rubble with marlstone-ashlar quoins and wooden
lintels. Thatch and Stonesfield-slate roofs with brick gable stack. Barn has
central opposed doors with C19 brick relieving arches, and has inserted C20
casements. To right of door is a single-row dovecote just below the eaves. End
walls have triangular ventilation openings. Thatched cottage, built onto the
right gable wall of the barn, has a plank door in the angle below a 2-light
casement, and has 3-light casements to right. Gable wall has a parapet and a
3-light casement. Further small casements and a plank door to rear. Interior:
cottage has heavy chamfered beams. Barn has a C19 queen-post roof.
