chancel of Church of St.

3 chest tombs. A: mid C17, B: late C17, C: C18. Limestone
A. Approximately 6 metres south of chancel. Rectangular chest, with moulded base
and cover plus Ionic angle shafts, has bolection-moulded double-panelled sides,
and end cartouches with swelling oval panels. Inscriptions largely illegible.
B. Approximately 11 metres south of chancel. Rectangular chest in Baroque style,
with deeply-projecting moulded cover and corner balusters, has vigorously-carved
decoration: end panels with wreathed cherub heads; one side with heavy swags and
drops, the other with 3 bolection-moulded panels with inscriptions commemorating
Thomas Georg (died 16?5).
C. Approximately 10 metres south of chancel. Rectangular chest, with moulded
base and cover and corner balusters, has panelled sides with largely-illegible
inscriptions commemorating members of the Bridgew(ater?) family.
