1836, by Hopper. Interior burnt in World War II and rebuilt with additional roof storeys and footway under frontage to Cheapside. Distinguished classical design in Portland stone with arcaded ground storey of grey granite. Two pilastered storeys above with pedimented windows, and balustrade in front of recessed attic. Two-storeyed, irregular, slated mansard. Long return to King Street slightly plainer, ending with arched entrance topped by carved figure of Atlas. Plainer still return to Ironmonger Lane ending in pedimented pavilion with stepped and arched staircase windows. This and the entrance in King Street are probably a later C19 addition. Modern, bracketed clock to Cheapside.
