Almshouse row. Circa 1912, possibly by Ernest George. Red brick with raised quoins
and moulded cornice to plain tiled roof, hipped. 2 tall ridge stacks. 1 storey.
10 bays with casement windows in 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th and 9th bays. Arched entrances
in 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and 10th bays.
Whiteley village was provided by William Whiteley of Whiteley's stores for thrifty
old folk and was laid out on an octagonal plan by Frank Atkinson , employing leading
architects of the day.
