Walls with gateways and gazebo. Probably C18. Brick with some stone dressings,
particularly in gazebo. Two gateways on east side; low rusticated piers
surmounted by half globes, with volute bracktes on walls flanking, except on
northernmost gatepier. Larger volute bracket at western end of wall on north side,
linking C18 wall to C20 wall, of no special interest. Low wall to north and
east, four feet high. Buttressed south wall runs round to south-west for
circa 100 yards, buttressing the garden to the south of Malling House.
Gazebo at western end of this wall. C18. Red brick with stone dressings.
Red brick parapet to plain tiled roof. One storey. Central portico in
antis with two central Tuscan columns and two outer. Pediment over, set into
parapet. One window on left side. Interior: panelled to rear, matching
portico intercolumniation. Gauged red brick niche to right. Wall continues
to north of gazebo for circa 100 yards at about 12 feet high. Red and blue
brick with two red brick gatepiers with cornices and half-globe capping towards
north end, now partially filled-in.
