II
Small country house. Early C19. Ashlar with brick rear, graduated slate
roof. 2 storeys, 9 bays with wing to rear. Central 3 bays break forward.
Central half-glazed double doors and fanlight with radial glazing bars in
moulded architrave, all set in a Doric porch with 2 columns, 2 pilasters,
dosserets without frieze and a cornice. It is flanked by tripartite windows
with central sashes with glazing bars, flanked by half Doric columns, and 8-
pane sashes; Doric pilasters to outer edges, frieze and dentilled pediment
above. All other windows are sashes with glazing bars. To ground floor the
windows are set in moulded architraves, apart from those centre of wings
which have surrounds of Doric pilasters, frieze and dentilled cornices.
First floor: continuous sill band, central 3 windows have consoled cornices.
The windows to centre of wings have moulded architraves and consoled
cornices. Moulded cornice with block course. Roof hipped with ridge
stacks. Interior: large open-well cantilevered stone staircase with plain
iron balusters and wreathed mahogany handrail, lit by oval lantern. Wings
contain large panelled dining room and lounge. Some rooms contain
plasterwork cornices. Beaded 6-panel mahogany doors to main ground-floor
rooms.
