Early C18 with alterations. Local brick in indeterminate bond, mainly Flemish. Stone
plinth and quoins. Moulded wood eaves cornice. Fairly high pitched Welsh slate roof
(probably raised slightly). Brick end chimneys. Two modern gabled dormers. Stone
kneelers. Three storeys, attic and basement, four windows. Gauged brick arches with
keystones to sash windows with glazing bars. In the third bay a two-storey rounded
bow and at right a quoined, arched yard entrance. Three stone steps to 6-panel door
with oblong fanlight in C19 architrave and pilaster surround with shell hood on
brackets. Interior: one completely panelled C18 room with fluted pilasters flanking
chimney breast; another part panelled, much good woodwork, short flight of C18
staircase. Wrough iron area railings with iron finials.
Formerly council ofices. Plaque records this as the home of Dr Yeoman, first medical
officer of the district, before Local Government reorganisation.
