Sweetbriar Cottage

Estate cottage, now a house. Dated 1850, with late C20
alterations. Coursed squared stone with ashlar dressings and
steep pitched slate roof. 2 ashlar gable stacks with square
coped double flues. Jacobean Revival style. Coped gables with
kneelers. Single storey plus attics; 2 window range. Windows
are C20 2-light glazing bar casements. 2 through-eaves dormers
with coped gables, kneelers and ball finials. Renewed central
door flanked by single windows with flat arches. Above the
door, a datestone.
An estate cottage provided for workers on the Belton estate by
the Brownlow family of Belton House.
