The Scales Public House

GV II

Public house. Early to mid C18. Stucco; tile roof with brick
stacks. 2 storeys; 5-window range. Platt bands over both
floors; top coped parapet. Entrance to right of centre has
doorcase with pilasters and bracketed cornice, stained-glass
overlight to panelled door; carriage entrance to left end has
plank door. 2 windows to ground floor have consoled cornices,
one to right end has bracketed cornice, possibly originally
entrance, and one window has plain opening, all have etched
plate glass. 1st floor has window to left end with 4:12:4-pane
tripartite sash, other windows have cross-casements with iron
opening casements. End stack and cross-axial stack. Rear
gabled wings.
