Pair of semi-detached villas. 1851-2, mid-late C20 alterations
and addition. Stucco over brick, quoins, also used to
distinguish the division of the two properties on the facade,
hipped slate roof, deep overhanging eaves on shaped brackets.
Central block with 2 flanking wings of diminuishing size. Two
storeys plus attic over basement; originally symmetrical with
1:1:2:1:1 bays, entrances set back from central block, No.4
now with C20 extension; No.2, main block with arch-head
windows to attic cutting through eaves cornice with a 6-pane
sash window in moulded surround, first floor similar
fenestration to main block, entrance wing to left with blind
window, similar adjoining below moulded parapet, ground floor
canopy to bay window with mixed glazing, cast-iron balcony,
entrance to left approached by flight of 6 steps, pilaster
porches. No.2 with 6-panel door, No.4 C20 half-glazed door
with ornamental grill, 2 figures of recumbent lions on piers
at foot of steps. Brick piers and walls fronting road,
railings renewed mid C20. The treatment of the attic dormers
is an unusual and original feature.
