Detached house. 1856. Developed by Henry Rydon and designed by
Charles Hambridge. Brick covered with stucco, roof of Welsh
slate. Three storeys over basement, two-window range. Steps up
to flat-arched entrance in side porch with cornice and
overlight, the entrance flanked by Ionic pilasters carrying
entablature and panelled parapet. Ground floor decorated with
banded rustication; flat-arched windows with moulded reveals;
storey band; first-floor windows flat-arched with moulded
stucco architraves, dentil cornice, and key pattern to apron;
a recessed band of palmette ornament over windows; moulded
string; third floor windows only to sides, below eaves;
dentils to eaves cornice; hipped roof with side stacks. Two
pairs of stuccoed panelled gate piers with cornices and
balustraded wall between. This house matches no 45 Highbury
New Park (q.v.) in design.
