GV II

House, formerly house and post-office. Early/mid C18, possibly with earlier
core, and with C19 alterations. Buffish-red brick in header bond,
with red brick quoins and dressings. Chequered red and grey brick
to left gable end. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys, attic and cellar.
Chamfered brick plinth. Plat band, broken over door and towards
each gable end. Moulded wooden eaves cornice. Right end window
bay slightly recessed, with deeper cornice soffit. Roof hipped to
left with gablet, half-hipped to right, with moulded strip to soffit
of half hip . Multiple brick stack towards right end and rear stack
to left. Hipped and corniced dormer to left hip. Irregular
fenestration of six 2-pane sashes in open boxes; 5 with splayed
rubbed brick voussoirs, and sixth, to right recess, with segmental
head. Similar windows to ground floor. Door of 6 fielded panels
with flat floating hood under third window from left. 4 stone steps,
on brick base and with decorative iron balustrade, rising alongside
the house to front door. Rear wing to left with chequered red and
grey brick ground floor, tile-hung first floor and plain tile roof.
