Chest tomb. 1666. Sandstone. Thick flat top to moulded edge, sunk enriched panels,
base sunk at time of survey, September 1983. At east end in heavy and crude raised
lettering 'AS 1666' and west end 'WS 1680', elsewhere lettering in good capitals
including 'William Smart 1680'. One of two very fine early monuments, c 2 metres
south of monument to daughter of William Smart (qv).
