- II
Farmhouse. C16 with considerable C18 and C19 modifications. Sandstone rubble,
stone slate roof toward road and clay double-Roman tiles far side; on the road,
or entrance side, off-centre right is a large external stack, cropped and with a
late C20 capping. Two storeys, left a 12-pane sash over 2-light casement, then
small dormer over an old plank door in round-headed opening to porch, then to left
of stack a 2-light casement over a small pointed light, and to right of stack, a
3-light casement over a blocked 4-centred opening, perhaps the original entry and
a 3-light casement. Far side has various windows including, near centre, ground
floor, a 3-light stone chamfered mullion casement, and a C20 door but with an early
drip-stone with square tops over. Interior: the ground floor middle room has
fine moulded c16 fire surround, 3-light opening with hollow chamfer mould mullions,
and 4-panel ceiling. C19 straight stair with stick balusters. The barn adjoining
formerly listed with the farmhouse, is now not part of the property (see barn
adjoining Church Farmhouse attached to Humphrey's Lodge).
