Dwelling, formerly The Upper George Inn. Late mediaeval, remodelled C17 and
C19. Smooth rendered on timber frame, of which part exposed, top floor, back,
Welsh slate roof. T-shaped plan, with staircase in projecting wing, back,
central stack; two storeys to front, becoming three storeys with steep drop
to return to Severn Street. Part main front jettied. At ground floor, small
canted C19 bay, small two-light old timber casement, fixed glass, right of
door, and large C18 canted bay with sashes and glazing bars; first floor, two
three-light casements set very wide with unwindowed centre. Recent glazed
door, also entrance to cellar off Severn Street. New fire light plus transome
oa,k window set in close stud framing upper level, back. Deep fire opening
with large bressummer right of entry,stone newel stair to basement and oak
newel stair to upper level - continuous worked soffit. Various heavy struc-
tural beams, some, including basement, new. Lower wing, left part rubble,
part timber-framed with brick fill, Welsh slate roof. Small 3-light casement
ground floor, left; pair late C20 garage doors, loading bay door over. Heavy
moulded timber structural members within.
