House, now hotel. Late C18. Coursed and dressed rubble stone,
stone dressings, slate roof with wooden eaves modillion cornice, 3
stone stacks. Single range with outshut and mid C19 extension at
rear. 2 storeys and attic. 4 sash windows, 12-pane, with
grooved keystones, 4 small hipped dormers with paired casements.
Door in bay 2 with curved projecting hood on cusped brackets. Was
home of David Mushet, first to produce good cast steel by the
combined process of Bessemer and Mushet.
