Shop and office, former houses. C14/C15 and late C16. Timber framed and
plastered with gabled pegtile roof. Long slate roofed range at south end of
rear and C20 rear extensions. Front has two C20 casements and two C19, 2 light
casements with cross pattern glazing bars. Ground floor has at the south end a
C20 projecting shop front, an entrance door and three C20 casements some with
small panes and a recessed entrance door. An C18 red brick stack projects
through the front roof slope. A complex of different builds with a jettied, 2
bay, late C16 structure at the south end with heavy straight arcade bracing.
Possibly workshop in one bay with large contemporary rear wall stack. To the
rear of the south bay is the C19 bakery, with a large brick oven with iron door.
To the north of this block are the remains of a C14/C15 service crosswing,
formerly jettied with a crown post roof, heavy arch braces to the tie beams and
very wide stud spacing: Beyond this one bay of a former crown post roofed, open
hall with heavy collar purlin and curious double collars. At the very north end
of the block are remnants of a further probably C16 crosswing, truncated by the
widening of the side alley.
