6/39 Greencroft Cottage

II

House in grounds of Greencroft Hall (now demolished); Dower house and gamekeeper's
house at various times; at one time divided into 2. Early C18 core with late
C18/early C19 additions and alterations. Pebble dash render on sandstone rubble,
with tooled ashlar dressings and some quoins visible; roof has front slope of
concrete tiles, rear of Welsh slate, with stone gable copings and ashlar chimneys.
L-plan. 2 storeys, 5 bays, the left wider, with rear left wing. Round-headed
plain stone surround to central renewed 6-panel door and patterned fanlight;
plain stone surrounds to 16-pane sashes. Rear one-storey, 4-bay outshut under
catslide roof has similar surround to door with 6 beaded panels; 16-pane sash
with wedge stone lintel, projecting stone sill and panelled external shutters.
2-light horizontal sliding sash with glazing bars in inner return of 2-storey,
one-bay rear wing.

Interior has some early C18 doors; most doors in early C19 fluted architraves
with corner paterae.
