Farmhouse
GV II
House. C16 and extended c.1817. Timber framed and clad with red
brick and extended with red brick, with some tile hanging to return
elevations. Plain tiled roof. Two parallel ranges, the rear range
a hall house in origin. Front elevation: two storeys on plinth with
brick dentil eaves cornice to hipped roof with stacks to left (and
truncated to right) and to rear centre. Regular fenestration of 3
glazing bar sashes on 1st floor and 2 on ground floor with cambered
heads. Central door of 6 panels, the top 2 glazed, in fluted moulded
surround with flat hood on brackets. Rear wing hipped with gablets
with large central stack cluster and some English Bond brickwork on
discontinuous ragstone plinth. Early C19 metal casement windows
fronted externally with wooden mouldings. Interior: full frame
visible, with smoke blackened rafters to clasped purlin roof,
misaligned mortices perhaps indicating re-use from earlier structure.
